This week is SAT testing week. So far we are doing great! Everyone is working hard and doing well. Because of testing, our regular week is on hold. We will continue to work on a little science and math, but it will be limited to time available. Next Tuesday we will have a test however in math.

Back in the swing of things!
Now that spring break is over, it is time to get back in the swing of things for the final homestretch! Don't forget that your studyguide and your chapter 11 review are due tomorrow. Please have progress reports signed and returned for tomorrow as well.

other block lies below the fault

2. same structure as a normal fault, but the blocks move in the opposite
direction

A. Friction- the force that opposes the motion of one surface as it moves across another surface
B. moderate friction, sides of the fault jam together, produce small earthquakes
C. high friction, rocks lock together and do not move, produce large earthquakes

V. Mountain Building and Uplift
A. Mountains formed by faulting
1. two plates move away from each other
2. tension forces create many normal faults
3. when two of these normal faults form parallel to each other, a block of
rock is left lying between them

5. When a block of rock lying between two normal faults slides
