Last Post

Lots is still going on, but the year is drawing to a close. For the upcoming weeks, we will be finishing up our science chapter. Look for your review on Tuesday, and the test next Tuesday (yes, the last day of science).

Don't forget we have a field trip on Thursday to the Health Museum in Houston. You will need to bring a paper bag lunch. I hope to be able to eat at Herman Park, which is near the museum. If you haven't turned in a permission slip, please do so immediately. I am checking on the cost for chaperones, but it looks like it should be anywhere between 4 and 7 dollars. We will leave ASAP after chapel, as it should take over an hour to get there.

Great job on the science projects! They looked great!

If you haven't turned in your math review packet, it is overdue!!!

Thanks for all the flowers, gift certificates, cards, supplies and snacks. It was much appreciated!!!

Have a good week!

For Tuesday...

There was no math homework this weekend. We are beginning to wind down for the year, so math homework will be rare.

We covered section 15-2 and parts of 15-3 on Thursday. I will post the notes as soon as I can. My computer has been fried, but the info was retrieved. I will do my best as soon as I can.

Be working on your chapter choices, nervous system drawing, excretory drawing if you haven't finished it yet, and the chapter review I passed out on Thursday. All of this will be due Thursday when we take our exam.

Remember to bring in field trip money and permission forms. Even if you parent is unable to attend, please have them sign and return the form as a permission slip for you to attend.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Up for Tomorrow...

For tomorrow, I know everyone will be saddened that we have NO math homework due. We will begin reviewing more challenging concepts that we covered this year in order to get a good understanding of the material.

For science, we begin discussing the nervous system. We covered section 1 of chapter 15 and took the notes below. We also discussed conducting an experiment about reaction times. This experiment is due tomorrow. It shouldn't take long. Be sure to include your answers for the analyze and conclude questions as well.

The school wide science project due date is drawing near. If you have not yet shown me your latest additions to the project, then you must turn that in tomorrow.

Please be sure to bring $ for the field trip. It will be $7 for each student. We also need drivers and chaperones, so please let Ms. Blase or me know if your parent would be willing to join us.

Have a good day!

Next...

Tomorrow we will take our math benchmark for the entire book. Be sure to study and look over any items you are unfamiliar with.

Math assignment for 7th graders is lesson 4 from the course 3 book.
My small group of 3 should finish up lesson 105 for homework.
All test corrections are due tomorrow! NO EXCEPTIONS!

We will begin Ch 15 in science tomorrow, covering the nervous system.

I have signed our class up for a field trip to the Houston Museum of Health on May 13 to tour their exhibits about the human body. It promises to be very interesting- you will even get to dissect a cow's heart! The cost will be $7 a student. We will also be in need of drivers and adult chaperones to accomodate all 14 students. Please let me know if you would be willing to join us.

Have a good evening!

This Tuesday we have a science test again! It was a short and sweet chapter about the respiratory and excretory systems. We wrapped it up, and next we are on to the nervous system! So be sure to turn in your chapter choices and your drawing of the excretory or respiratory system.

Math lesson 2 for 7th graders is also due. My group of 3 also has lesson 107 due as well.

Report cards will go out tomorrow.

Have a good weekend!

Tomorrow

Assignments for tomorrow are lesson 120 for both course 1 and 2 math books.

We will have a math test tomorrow, covering most of the math book. This is not the benchmark final exam, that will be next week.

Be sure you are keeping up with your science project. Don't fall behind!

We will be wrapping up the respiratory and excretory system chapter soon as well, so keep up with chapter choices!

Have a great week!

Test Thursday!

This Thursday is going to be a busy one!

For math, both course 1 and course 2 students (that's the 6th and 7th grade textbooks) need to turn in lesson 1115. We will finish up the textbook and move on to the next one! (After a bit of reviewing over some more difficult topics)

For science, you need to finish up the experiment in Ch 12 that covers your pulse rate, and how exercise and rest affect it. That shouldn't take too long. Just conduct the experiment, and answer the analyze & conclude questions.

We have also finished up Ch 12, so we will be having Ch 12 test on Thursday. Be sure to complete the review and your chapter choices assignments for Thursday. *** The required assignment of the circulatory system will not be due until next Thursday due to the amount of work that is already due on Thursday!*** But don't forget about it!

Have a great Easter holiday!

Once we finish the book, we will begin the next grade level text.

For math, 7th graders are required to turn in lesson 113 on Tuesday and lesson 115 on Thursday. 6th graders will turn in lesson 99 on Tuesday.

We started the cardiovascular system unit in science this week. Chapter choices again include drawing a life-size picture of your circulatory system. You will also need to complete the science experiment about your pulse rate at rest and in motion by Thursday.

Have a great weekend!

What's up next...

This Tuesday we covered a few more math lessons. 7th graders did lessons 106-108. Lesson 108 is due tomorrow. My group of 2 covered lessons 101-102 and investigation 10. Your choice of either I-10 or lesson 102 is due tomorrow. And my group of 3 covered a few lessons as well. Lesson 82 is due tomorrow. As with every Thursday, we will also be having a math test. Good luck!

This week we started a short chapter about the digestive system. We will cover all the textbook has to offer this week! The chapter notes are at the bottom. You should have your system drawings of your skin (outside w/clothes), muscular system, skeletal system, and digestive system completed, as well as chapter choices, and your review for NEXT Thursday. We will be using next Tuesday to review and next Thursday for a test.

Report cards were not sent out until today due to the inclement weather and early release yesterday. Please return those by Friday.

Have a great week next week!

Workless Weekend!

There is NO homework this weekend! Since we reviewed and prepped for chapel tomorrow, we did not cover any new material this week. Therefore, there is no homework. We finished up our science chapter this week too, so there is no science homework. For those of you who already have your paper, you could work on drawing your body systems. So far we have covered the skin, muscular system, and skeletal system. One system per page.

Look for report cards next week.

Have a great weekend!

Plans for Tomorrow

This week we are using the opportunity to review and solidify all previous concepts we have learned in math. We are reviewing tests, answering questions, and working on homework. Lesson 105 is due for 7th graders and lesson 100 for those working on Course 1 material.

Tomorrow we will also have a science test. Chapter choices and chapter 10 review will be due tomorrow as well, with the exception of the body systems drawing. All unfinished work for the 6 weeks must be turned in tomorrow to receive any credit.

Happy studying!

Work for the Week

This week the seventh graders are working on lessons 101-105, covering several algebraic concepts. Lesson 98 was due today and lesson 100 is due on Thursday. You will have time to work on 103 and 105 on Thursday after your exam.

My group of 2 working on course 1 material covered Lessons 96-97. Lesson 95 is due on Thursday and you will have time in class to finish lesson 97 and lesson 100.

The group of 3 worked on a few lessons, 78-80, and should complete their assigned work.

Everyone has a math test on Thursday. I would advise you to study by going through the examples in the book. If you get the right answers, move on. If you don't, then investigate why or ask me!

Be sure to be working on your chapter choices assignment, including your life-size self-portrait.

Have a good week! And congrats cougars on your big win tonight!

What's happening this week...

Today we wrapped up chapter 9 with a science test. For those of you who were absent, Ms. Ross has your test ready for you tomorrow. We will begin chapter 10 on Thursday and our unit about the human body. Chapter 10 will cover the skin, muscular system, and skeletal system. Should be interesting!

In math, 7th grade covered lessons 96-98. If you have not yet completed lesson 95 yet, please finish ONLY that one for homework. You will have time in class to complete lesson 98. If you have already finished 95, please finish 98. ONLY one lesson must be turned in on Thursday.

My group of 2 completed lessons 91-92. Please finish lesson 92 for homework.

My group of 3 should complete the last lesson covered today as well- 75 I believe.

Progress reports have not yet gone out due to Mrs. Blase's maternity leave. I should have them out before the end of the week. Thanks for your patience.

If you are concerned about your child's grade, please e-mail me and I can give you their math/science grades anytime.

Have a great week!

Update

This week we are finishing up Chapter 9 about the Earth, moon, and sun. It was a short chapter, so we will be having a science test on Tuesday. Chapter choices were passed out today. Be sure to read them carefully, there are several new options for this chapter that you may complete. Reviews will be passed out on Thursday.

In math, 7th grade completed lesson 93 today. Lesson 93 will be homework, and if the investigation 9 has not yet been turned in, that should also be handed in asap. My group of 2 will need to complete lesson 87 for Thursday and the sixth graders also have homework on lesson 63 (I think). Everyone will have a test on Thursday.

Progress reports will be out soon, so look for those. If you have not written your apology letter to Mrs. Blase for Mrs. Ligon, then you need to finish it and turn it in ASAP!

Happy studying!
